I’ve always thought naming movie with a character’s name was
a huge risk. If you think about it, a name reveals nothing. Nothing about the
plot or story of the movie. So, while the 10 films below may not be equipped
with the most revealing titles, they are all excellent films in their own
right.
These list always impress me man - always. I've seen the majority, though for whatever reason have never caught Barton Fink.
ReplyDeleteClayton, Maguire, Brown and Wood are probably my favorites from your top 10. Though, I would've had to squeak in Happy and Billy somewhere along the way.
Thanks dude. I really did want to include either Billy or Happy, even as an honorable mention. I love those two movies.
DeleteBarton Fink is really something else. A great Coen bros film.
Alex - SUCH an inventive post and great top ten picks! Michael Clayton was awesome - glad I saw that movie recently.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jules! So glad you liked Michael Clayton.
DeleteExcellent list man. Jackie Brown all the way! Love seeing films like Vera Drake and Dick Tracy make the cut as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Gotta love Jackie Brown.
DeleteWriting this made me want to rewatch Dick Tracy ASAP. Been too long.
Phew, glad Forrest made it on to your ten more list at least! Surprised by how many I haven't seen. Think I find these titles a little off putting sometimes.
ReplyDeleteGotta have Forrest there! I agree that these titles can be off putting. Like I said, these titles reveal nothing about the movie itself, which is such a risk.
DeleteFrances Ha?
ReplyDeleteNot her real name. Or full name, anyway. Have you seen it?
DeleteI guess this wouldn't count since it's not a full name but I love Keane
ReplyDelete-Dan
I LOVE that movie. I really wish Lodge Kerrigan made more films.
