Brittani from Rambling Film has cooked up her first blogathon, in which she’s asked fellow bloggers to list their favorite movie
title of each letter of the alphabet. I had a blast putting this post together
because, per Brittani’s instructions, you don’t have to necessarily like the movie, you just have to
appreciate the title. Hope you enjoy my picks, and do head over to Brittani’s
site to see a collection of all the entries!

I must see this movie!
Ha, that title is insane, isn't it? I linked to the actual movie, so you can check it out if you want. But that is 16 minutes you aren't getting back. You've been warned ;)
DeleteI'm going to have to check some of these films out based solely on the amazing title shots.
ReplyDeleteHa, nice man! I'm so curious which ones you were drawn to...
DeleteDr. Strange Love, The Killing of a Chinese Bookie, Z, and Enter The Void, which I've been meaning to watch for some time now.
DeleteI never realized the North by Northwest title card looked so much like a title card out of a 1970's sci-fi movie.
All great flicks man. Hope you have a chance to check them out soon. As for North by Northwest... that Saul Bass really was ahead of his time.
DeleteWow...I :)
ReplyDeleteI really like Leaving Las Vegas inclusion, almost used it myself. I don't know what the hell it is about this title, but it has such sad, tragic beauty to it, just like the movie.
So true about LLV. It's such a telling title, like, "Yeah, things aren't going to end well here." I love that film's pain.
DeleteAwesome fucking list. I'm glad you and I put Enter the Void. I thought about XX/XY for that list but it's been a long time since I've seen that film.
ReplyDeleteI Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meathook, and Now I have a Three Picture Deal at Disney is directed by... Ben Affleck? I gotta see this. Yet, I have 3 more films to watch for my Cannes marathon. One of which is a last-minute addition.
I Killed My... is a really, really awful film, but it's always fun to see where a now popular filmmaker started. Fuckin' love Enter the Void. Such a trippy flick.
DeleteI Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meathook, and Now I have a Three Picture Deal at Disney ..... what the.. :D
ReplyDeleteHa, exactly. Such an insane title.
DeleteWhere the hell did you find I? Lol thank you so much for participating. You picked great titles!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing that movie years ago when it popped up on YouTube. Awful film, but a pretty brazen title haha. Thank YOU for setting up the blogathon!
DeleteI Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meathook, and Now I have a Three Picture Deal at Disney: This has officially made my day. Great list, all awesome choices!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Isn't that title nuts?
DeleteThat is a... very interesting selection of titles. Many of them are films I haven't seen in full or never heard of but they seem like very interesting titles indeed. As for the ones that are there, "Dr. Strangelove" is of a great title, if only for the sheer irony of it (I think Kubrick might have enjoyed that kind of thing, considering the subject matter of "Paths of Glory" is anything but glorious). I will confess I never thought I'd see a title like I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meathook, and Now I have a Three Picture Deal at Disney,
ReplyDeleteI actually did consider North By Northwest for my entry, but then I went through my collection to get some ideas, found the title "Naked Lunch", and decided that one was too awesomely bizarre to be ignored.
While I'm commenting here it might be worth mentioning that I started a blogathon of my own, which I think could be a lot of fun. Perhaps you'd enjoy checking it out:
http://hitchcocksworld.blogspot.ca/2014/05/favorite-movie-scenes-blogathon.html
I'd love to participate in your blogathon! Thanks for inviting me. I actually have an entire column dedicated to that topic, so I'm a big fan of highlighting specific scenes from movies.
DeleteI considered Naked Lunch as well, because that title rocks. And yes, Kubrick definitely liked playful, ironic titles (Paths of Glory, Eyes Wide Shut, etc).
The more I see these posts, the more I feel like joining. If I find some time, I think I just will. :)
ReplyDeleteand yes, did Ben Affleck actually did I? WTF? :D
Yep, good ol' Ben Affleck's first film is a real doozy. You should definitely make a post like this one. It was a lot of fun.
DeleteSo many great picks in this. I love that you included Out of the Past and There Will Be Blood especially. Hmm.. I may need to get in on this blogathon.
ReplyDeleteThanks man! You should do one too, for sure! LOVE Out of the Past as a title. So fitting for the movie.
DeleteGreat title choices!! I Killed My Lesbian Wife made me laugh and I was very glad to see Funny Games on here, it's one of my favorite films.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love that you love Funny Games. That movie is so fucked up and brilliant. Great, great stuff. Do you prefer the original or the remake? I say that remake, but just barely, only because, well, Naomi.
DeleteOne of the best satires I've ever seen! I'd say the remake since I love the cast and it's easier to enjoy the film without relying on the subtitles ya know
DeleteYep, same exact thing for me. Love that film.
DeleteGreat choices! I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meathook, and Now I have a Three Picture Deal at Disney is an epic title!
ReplyDeleteThanks! That title is so damn crazy.
DeleteFantastic picks! I haven't seen it, but I completely forgot about that "I" title. It's great to see the 4 we have in common, as I only predicted Upstream Color to be on here.
ReplyDeleteThanks man! So cool that we had so many in common. Check out "I" if you get a chance. It's so nuts.
DeleteThis is pretty cool, I specially love the titles of American Psycho and Enter the Void.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Enter the Void is a great title, and, perhaps, the finest text-only opening credits of all time. So crazy.
DeleteShit. I've only seen six of these films, and only considered using two of them. But at least I had Zomboobies, right? Gives me some credibility.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, great list. I think Quiet Please Murder...is easily my favorite one. So respectful!
I'm not sure films get much better than Zomboobies. Granted, I have yet to see Zomboobies, but its very title alone is a reflection of its greatness. Ha.
DeleteIs there anything more perfect than the title card for Persona? Black text on a white background - it says it all right there.
ReplyDeleteHell yeah man, that's one of my all time favorites. And that damn music? The best.
DeleteThis blogathon reminds me that movie titles alone is an awesome point in movie, but sometimes ignored or forgotten. Great list!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Your'e so right - a great title really can speak volumes for the film. It's a lost art, the great title.
DeleteBeautiful! This is such a great blogathon, and I love your entry here. I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meathook, and Now I have a Three Picture Deal at Disney is something that I MUST see now.
ReplyDeleteSome day, a person will have "Wait" on a list like that, you know that, right?
You're too kind. Thanks so much for saying that :)
DeleteGreat list. Needless to say, there are a few movies I haven't heard of before. I love when that happens. I've been meaning to watch Dr. Strangelove eventually. I think it might be on my blind spot list next year.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Dr. Strangelove is so good and weird and perfect. I hope you dig it... it's out there!
DeleteValley of the Dolls!? Vertigo! Get it together man! Hahah just kidding, good list here.
ReplyDeleteHa thanks. Valley of the Dolls is an insane title! I love it.
DeleteWhat a brilliant list, and so many films that I haven't seen yet! I'm going to have to rectify this...
ReplyDeleteWe took part in this Blogathon too and had loads of fun. I also just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much we love your blog! We run a film/tv blog ourselves and we've added And So It Begins to our Blog Roll, hope that's okay!
