And after a year of writing, producing, shooting, editing, and
mixing, the movie will be released for free on my Vimeo page on October 19,
2019.
I Am Alive is a short film about love, loss, and
family. I was lucky enough to make it with some very talented people who mean
the world to me, and I am so excited to share it with you all in a few weeks.
I’m trying a somewhat different distribution approach this
time. In the past, I detailed the making of my films, Earrings and Wait,
while I was actively producing them. For I Am Alive, I’ll reserve my comments
about the film’s production (which went great!) until after the film is
released. But look out for more pictures and a trailer for I Am Alive
before its release on October 19. Stay tuned!
Oh, nice!!!! I'll just wait for the 19th to see it as a whole. That is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I'm really excited for you to see it!
DeleteI hope many people get to watch the finished film! In terms of making money from it have you looked into product placement? I assume you would be against for artistic reasons but just thought I'd ask. Kind of like blogs have ads to support the writer
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris! And yep, sure have. And hey, when it comes to film funding, I'll take whatever I can get. The problem with product placement is that it's typically reserved for movies that are all but guaranteed a large audience. Pepsi's ROI for product placement in I Am Alive is probably non existent, you know? But damn do I wish I was wrong!
DeleteThat's wonderful! I can't wait to check it out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brittani! I'm really excited for you to see it!
DeleteWonderful to hear! Can't wait to see it. Did you end up watching mine btw?
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark! And yes sir, did I indeed. I'm going to email you about it. I fucking loved that movie.
DeleteI am super excited about this! Are we going to be treated with a roll out of articles similar to Wait's release? I really enjoyed those breakdowns.
ReplyDeleteWow thanks so much for that! I'm really happy you enjoyed those! I'm going to wait until after I Am Alive comes out before I talk about its production. Slightly different approach this time, but I'll definitely be talking about it more in the coming weeks!
DeleteCongrats! I look forward to seeing it.
ReplyDeleteLast December, I sent you my first short film, which you graciously checked out. Some awesome news: I won a best directing prize for it at the Atlantic City Cinefest last weekend. I submitted to a handful of festivals in the spring and, because of the vagaries of deadlines and such, it's just starting to show up at a few of them now.
I've also been doing a bunch of 48-hour film competitions. The shoots are hectic, of course, but it's a great (and inexpensive) way to force myself to do the work of filmmaking in a compressed time frame. If you'd like to check them out, I've been posting those shorts to YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAlvVOnXNOiJjrLPL10xzWg
Cheers!
Dude that is AWESOME! Congratulations! That was a damn fine short, and I don't even believe I saw the final product! I know you emailed that to me a few months ago... would you mind sending it again? And I'll definitely check out the 48-hour competition shorts as well!
