When I started podcasting in July 2020, I promised myself that I wouldn’t let this blog fall off. But it only took me a few weeks to learn that podcasting and blogging with equal weight is not something I can sustain.
The main downside to this is that I’m not regularly talking to the many amazing people I’ve met on this blog. People whose movie opinions I highly respect.
The only advantage to not blogging is that I don’t have to wrestle with Blogger’s hilariously poor interface. What happened to this platform? The HTML has a mind of its own, and the process for posting pictures takes hours. (No joke, it took me longer to post this article than it did to write and research it. No fun.)
In an effort to blend my movie communities together, I’m going to post podcast episodes on the blog every once in a while.
The film studio, A24, began distributing movies in early 2013, and quickly announced themselves as one of the premiere movie studios supporting independent film. In 2016, they began producing their own movies, which lead to a shocking Best Picture victory.
We all have our favorite A24 films – the mind-bending horror films, the politically incorrect comedies, the brutal dramas, the trippy shit words can’t explain – and in this episode, we list our 10 favorite each.
My podcast, What Are You Watching, is on all major platforms, and my co-host Nick and I are always on Twitter @WAYW_Podcast.
I hope everyone is doing well! Thank you so much for listening, and happy watching!
I was wondering why there hadn't been any new posts as I can see you've been busy with your podcast as I admit I haven't been listening to it as much as I want to as I've been busy with watching films (whenever I have the time) and dealing with my 2-year old nephew and 6-month old niece. Still, I'm glad you're active as there's plenty of A24 films that I want to see as I'm trying to catch up. I'm just glad you're still active and I will try to create a post on A24 films soon.
ReplyDeleteHey there friend! Sorry for neglecting this blog and comments for a while now, but yeah, podcasting and watching movies pretty much takes up all my movie time. I can't stand to wrestle with Blogger's shitty interface anymore. Sucks. But I'm so happy to hear from you, and I hope you've been watching good stuff lately!
DeleteWordPress, which I used to really love, has made it nearly impossible for me to continue my blog, which is highly disappointing. There used to be a classic version I could use, but now that has gone away.
ReplyDeleteOne idea for blog posts, could be a link to the podcast (which I love!), and then maybe use the blog as a place to post the lists or movies covered? It would be nice to have as a reference going forward.
Dude it's crazy isn't it? It was as if overnight, the interface of WordPress and Blogger took a massive dive. But when it started taking me longer to post the blog articles than to actually write them, I knew I had to figure out another way to share my movie love.
DeleteThat is a truly great idea though. I love the idea of having a reference for people (and myself haha) about what movies are discussed on the podcast. Thanks for the idea, I may have to put that into action soon!
I noticed you stopped updating the blog last year so i haven't visited in a while. It's sad to see the blog end after all these years, but understandable. You have helped me discover a lot of movies and actors since i started following the blog probably over 10 years ago now. I love listening to the podcast though. You and Nick have great chemistry and a lot of knowledge about movies that makes your discussions interesting and fun to listen to. I'll miss reading this blog, especially the end of the year discussions, but I'm happy that you seem to have found a new passion with the podcast. I'm definitely gonna keep listening to it.
ReplyDeleteHey friend! Oh man, this comment made me sad, largely because it's true. I swear though, the number one single motivating factor of not posting on this blog is that Blogger makes it impossible to post anything. When it started taking me longer to post these articles than actually write them, I knew I had to make some changes.
DeleteBut a blog is better for certain things, like lists, and engaging with people. So I do still want to post my favorite films of every year, because I like going back and seeing what I like at that time. But I really appreciate you giving the pod a listen and engaging us on Twitter! My best of 2021 lists will be up on here and on the pod soon!
Oh I get it. That sounds incredibly annoying. I hate when web sites changes stuff that worked perfectly fine before for apparently no reason. I'll keep checking it again once in a while though and I'm looking forward to your best of 2021 list. There are always a few movies on them I never even thought about checking out before.
DeleteI'm gonna have that sucker posted soon!
